OUR TIP… The funicular railway is a cable car that links Széchenyi Chain Bridge from the top to the river level to Buda Castle above. The funicular is a simple way to explore the castle without climbing to the top on foot which is not bad but in summer you better be in shape to get it in a record or average time. It only takes around 10 minutes and you can get a guided tour, your laziness isn’t going to cost too much and you are contributing to keep the city in a good condition.

PARTY IN…  With an open courtyard and a labyrinth of psycho minimalist-rooms, adorn it with eclectic furniture, Szimpla Kert communist memorabilia, dilapidated building and edgy artwork, and you’ve got the city’s most famous (and most cool) ‘ruin bar’, Szimpla Kert. Be sure to order a shot (or more) of Pălinca when you’re there. It’s a traditional Hungarian liqueur which will make you warm in winter and spirited during summer.
